If you're looking for a family-friendly, educational, and completely free thing to do in San Antonio — this one’s for you!
We recently spent a day exploring San Antonio Missions National Historical Park, and it felt like stepping into a living history book. The park includes four incredible Spanish colonial missions: Mission Concepción, Mission San José, Mission San Juan, and Mission Espada — all just a short drive from one another.
🗺️ What Are the San Antonio Missions?
These missions were established in the 1700s by Spanish settlers and have been preserved as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. They're full of stunning architecture, peaceful trails, and powerful history.
👨👩👧👦 Family-Friendly Highlights:
✔️ Free admission & ranger programs
✔️ Scenic walking & biking trails
✔️ Junior Ranger activity books for kids
✔️ A great mix of learning & outdoor time!
👣 Can You See All Four Missions in One Day?
Yes! That’s what we did — and we shared the full journey in our latest YouTube video. Each mission is about 5–10 minutes from the next, making it a great half- or full-day adventure.

❤️ Why We Loved It
This experience was equal parts fun and meaningful. It sparked great conversations about culture, history, and community. And as a bonus — it’s completely free to visit.
If you're looking for something to do in San Antonio, we highly recommend adding the Missions to your itinerary!
