Our YouTube and travel content creation gear in our home office

Whether we're filming at a Texas State Park, exploring a new city, or editing videos from home, having gear we can count on makes creating content so much easier.

Over the years, we've found a setup that works really well for our family. These are the products we currently use to film, edit, and run Family Traveling USA, from the cameras that travel with us across the country to the equipment we use every day in our home office.

If you've ever wondered what camera we use, what microphone we record with, or what gear helps us create our YouTube videos, travel guides, and social media content, you'll find it all here.

DJI Osmo Pocket 3 travel camera we use for YouTube videos.

The DJI Osmo Pocket 3 has become our favorite camera for filming family adventures.

It's small enough to fit in a pocket, captures smooth video, and is the camera we use for almost all of our YouTube videos. One thing that really stands out is how well it performs in low light. Whether we're walking through a museum, exploring an aquarium, or visiting another indoor attraction, the footage looks noticeably better than anything else we've tried.

If we could only bring one camera on a trip, this would be it.

GoPro HERO11 Black action camera we use for family adventures.

It's one of the first things we pack anytime we know we'll be around water or heading out on an adventure.

We use it for swimming, beach days, biking, water parks, and other outdoor adventures where having a durable camera makes sense. Our GoPro has been down countless waterslides, underwater during family vacations family vacations, covered in sand at the beach, and even survived a few accidental drops on trails and pavement.

GoPro floating hand grip accessory we use for filming in the water.

If we're taking the GoPro into the water, this handle comes with us.

It gives us a much more comfortable grip while filming and, best of all, it floats if it's dropped in the water. Whether we're at a water park, swimming at the beach, or filming in a river, it's one of those simple accessories that gives us a little extra peace of mind.

MAONO USB microphone we use for recording YouTube voiceovers.

We use this microphone for recording voiceovers while editing our YouTube videos.

It was easy to set up, sounds much better than our computer's built-in microphone, and has worked really well for what we need. If you're recording voiceovers at home, it's been a great addition to our setup.

Sensyne ring light and phone tripod we use for photos and videos.

This has been a great addition to our content creation setup, especially when we're using our phones for photos and videos.

The tripod is lightweight, easy to carry, and quick to set up, making it nice for filming at home or taking along on trips. One of our favorite features is the Bluetooth remote. It paired with my iPhone in just a few seconds and makes it easy to snap photos or start recording without running back and forth to the camera.

Whether we're filming a quick video, taking family photos, or capturing content for social media, it's become one of those accessories we reach for often.

Agilestic standing desk used for editing videos and creating travel content

This is where most of the behind-the-scenes work happens.

Whether we're editing videos, writing blog posts, planning trips, or answering emails, we spend a lot of time here. Being able to switch between sitting and standing has been really nice during longer editing sessions.

N-GEN gaming chair in our home office.

A comfortable chair that helps you maintain good posture is a must.

Between editing videos, writing blog posts, and managing everything that goes into Family Traveling USA, we spend plenty of time at our desks, so having a chair that's comfortable makes a big difference.

Nulaxy laptop stand and ergonomic mouse on our editing desk.

This is one of those little purchases that made a bigger difference than we expected.

It raises the laptop to a comfortable height while keeping the keyboard at an ergonomic angle. Paired with our ergonomic mouse, it's made our editing setup much more comfortable for longer sessions.

It also helps keep our desk setup feeling cleaner and more organized.

TECKNET ergonomic mouse we use for editing videos.

After spending hours editing videos, writing blog posts, and sorting through thousands of travel photos, a comfortable mouse really makes a difference.

I switched to this vertical ergonomic mouse because it's much more comfortable to use during longer editing sessions. It has become a permanent part of my desk setup, and I definitely notice the difference compared to using a standard mouse.

WD Elements external hard drive we use to store travel photos and videos.

Travel videos take up a surprising amount of storage, especially when filming in 4K.

We use external hard drives to back up our videos, photos, and projects so everything stays organized and easy to find.

DJI Osmo Pocket 3 battery handle accessory.

This has become one of our favorite accessories for the Osmo Pocket 3.

The extra battery life lets us film longer without worrying about charging, and the larger grip also makes the camera more comfortable to hold throughout the day.

A dependable memory card is something we never overlook.

These are the cards we use in our cameras because they've been fast, reliable, and have worked well for all of our travel videos.

Final Thoughts

These are some of our current favorite items for creating YouTube videos and travel content.

Every piece of gear on this list is something we personally use, whether we're filming on the road or editing at home. We don't think you need a huge setup to get started, but having equipment you enjoy using definitely makes the process more fun.

We hope this list gives you a few ideas if you're building your own content creation setup or if you're simply curious about what we use behind the scenes at Family Traveling USA.
