In October, the Houston Zoo becomes a festive Halloween wonderland. During the day, visitors can enjoy the regular Zoo Boo activities, but when the sun goes down, Zoo Boo after dark begins — with extended hours, glowing lights, and a touch of nighttime magic.

💡 Family Tips for Visiting
Free Parking: Free zoo parking is available! We had no problem finding a spot during our visit, but the lot can fill up quickly on busy nights.
Check Last Entry Time: Closing time and last entry time aren’t the same — double-check before your visit so you don’t miss out!
Dress Up! Costumes are encouraged for kids and adults (keep it family-friendly!) — just skip masks that cover the full face.
Wear Comfy Shoes: There’s plenty of walking, especially if you want to explore every light display.
Stay Hydrated: Even after dark, October evenings in Houston can stay warm. Bring a water bottle — the zoo has refill stations throughout the grounds.
