LEGOLAND® Florida Resort has officially launched its first-ever indoor family coaster, Galacticoaster, located inside the brand-new LEGO® Galaxy area. Our family had the opportunity to experience the ride during preview night before its public opening, and it quickly became one of the most talked-about attractions at the park.

This indoor roller coaster sends riders on an intergalactic adventure through glowing cosmic environments, fast twists, and playful LEGO storytelling moments. While the ride delivers noticeable speed and excitement, it still fits within LEGOLAND Florida Resort’s family-friendly style.

If you're planning a trip and wondering:

  • Is Galacticoaster scary?

  • What is the height requirement?

  • Is it good for younger kids?

  • Is it worth riding?

Here’s everything families should know before adding this new ride to their LEGOLAND® Florida Resort itinerary.

Our family was invited by LEGOLAND Florida Resort to attend the Galacticoaster preview event. As always, all opinions are our own.

What Is Galacticoaster at LEGOLAND Florida Resort?

Galacticoaster is the newest roller coaster at LEGOLAND Florida Resort and the park’s first indoor family coaster. The ride combines traditional coaster movement with immersive space-themed environments, sending riders on an intergalactic adventure filled with glowing galaxy effects and LEGO storytelling moments.

While waiting in line, guests can also design their own spacecraft as part of the interactive queue experience. The design appears on screen when you board the ride, adding a fun personalized touch before your mission launches.

Riders then board their spacecraft and launch into a cosmic environment featuring:

  • Glowing galaxy lighting effects

  • LEGO-themed storytelling moments

  • Smooth twists and quick turns

  • Indoor dark ride style scenes

The ride delivers excitement while still feeling approachable for families visiting the park with kids.

Galacticoaster Height Requirement

Before heading to the ride, here are the official height requirements for Galacticoaster at LEGOLAND Florida Resort:

  • 36 inches minimum with a supervising adult

  • 48 inches minimum to ride unaccompanied

While the coaster is designed as a family attraction, younger riders may still find the speed and dark indoor environment a little intense depending on their comfort level with thrill rides.

Tip: If your child is close to the height requirement, measuring at home before your trip can help avoid disappointment at the ride entrance.

Is Galacticoaster Scary?

This is one of the most common questions families will have before riding.

Galacticoaster delivers noticeable speed and tight turns, along with indoor lighting effects that add to the space-themed atmosphere. However, it does not include large drops or any upside-down elements.

What to expect on the ride:

  • Fast launches and smooth twists

  • Dark indoor scenes with glowing cosmic effects

  • Exciting movement without major drops

  • No inversions (no upside-down elements)

For many families, the ride strikes a balance between thrill and family-friendly fun. However, younger riders who are sensitive to darkness or fast movement may find it more intense.

Our Family’s Experience Riding Galacticoaster

We visited during preview night and had a fantastic time exploring the new LEGO Galaxy area and riding Galacticoaster at LEGOLAND Florida Resort.

One of the most fun parts of the experience happens while waiting in line, where guests can choose a spacecraft design for their mission. There are many creative options, including designs with hamburger wings, dragon tails, and disco balls. Even if you ride more than once, it’s fun to try a different spacecraft each time.

Our kids especially enjoyed hearing the mission briefing from the animated LEGO character before the ride launches.

Our older kids (ages 10 and 9) rode Galacticoaster multiple times and loved the speed and twists. Our 6-year-old, who had only ridden his first roller coaster earlier that same day, tried it once but found it a bit intimidating. He ended up preferring the nearby LEGO play area and slide while the bigger kids continued riding.

Having the play area located right next to the coaster worked really well for our family since our group could easily split up and meet back together.

We also enjoyed trying some of the new themed foods in the area, including the Supernova Sandwich and the Cookies & Cosmos Sundae. Both were very tasty and a fun addition to the overall experience.

Galacticoaster is located inside the brand-new LEGO Galaxy themed area at LEGOLAND Florida Resort, which offers several interactive elements beyond the coaster itself.

Families visiting the area will also find:

  • A LEGO build zone where kids can create their own space-themed designs

  • A small space-themed play area with a slide for younger visitors

  • Fun LEGO astronaut characters and themed photo spots throughout the area

  • Locker storage conveniently located near the ride entrance

During preview night, our kids especially loved spending time building their own creations in the LEGO build area.

These features make LEGO Galaxy more than just a place to ride Galacticoaster. Kids who may not want to ride the coaster can still enjoy the hands-on play areas and building activities while exploring the themed space environment.

Who Is Galacticoaster Best For?

Galacticoaster is best suited for:

Kids who are ready to move beyond beginner rides

✔ Families who enjoy immersive themed attractions

✔ LEGO fans excited about the new LEGO Galaxy area

Families or groups of four who want to sit together in a single row

It may not be ideal for:

✖ Toddlers under 36 inches

✖ Guests who dislike dark indoor rides

Is Galacticoaster Worth Riding?

If you're visiting LEGOLAND Florida Resort, Galacticoaster is definitely worth adding to your must-ride list.

The attraction brings together:

  • Immersive theming

  • Family-friendly thrills

  • Creative LEGO storytelling

Because the ride is brand new, wait times may be higher during busy seasons. Arriving early or riding during lower crowd periods can help reduce wait times.
