If you're looking for a beachfront hotel for a family trip to South Padre Island, the Courtyard by Marriott South Padre Island offers direct beach access, a large outdoor pool, complimentary breakfast, and room options that can accommodate larger families.
On our recent trip to South Padre Island, our family of five stayed in Room 453, a suite with two queen beds and a sofa bed. We had plenty of space for all five of us, along with a large wraparound balcony and a beautiful view overlooking the Gulf.
Here's a look inside our room, the hotel amenities, and what we thought about staying at the Courtyard South Padre Island with kids.
Our stay was not sponsored. We booked our stay using Marriott Bonvoy points.

Our Room at Courtyard South Padre Island
We booked our stay using Marriott Bonvoy points. I'm currently a Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite member, and we received a complimentary upgrade to a suite with two queen beds and a sofa bed.
Our suite accommodated five guests and worked really well for our family of five.
We stayed in Room 453, which had two queen beds along with a sofa bed. Having the additional living space gave us plenty of room to spread out during our stay. Our favorite feature of the room was definitely the balcony.
The Wraparound Balcony and Gulf View

Room 453 had a large wraparound balcony with a beautiful view of the ocean.
The main portion of the balcony had a table and chairs, and the balcony continued around the side of the suite. From our room, we could see the beach, Gulf, pier, and hotel pool area below.
It was a great place to sit outside and enjoy the view, and in the morning we were able to watch the sunrise over the ocean right from our room.
If having a great view is important to you when choosing a hotel room, we were very happy with the location of our room. Just keep in mind that this was the specific room we stayed in, and views and balcony configurations can vary throughout the hotel.
Pool at Courtyard South Padre Island

The Courtyard South Padre Island has a large outdoor pool located just steps from the beach. There is also a shallow kids' splash pool with dumping water buckets, which our kids had a lot of fun playing in.
Having both the pool and beach right outside the hotel was really convenient when traveling with kids. We could spend time swimming and playing at the pool and then head down to the beach without needing to get everyone back in the car.
Beach Access

One of the biggest perks of staying at the Courtyard South Padre Island is its beachfront location.
The beach is directly behind the hotel, making it easy to walk down and enjoy the ocean.
When you're traveling with kids and all the stuff that comes along with a beach day, being able to easily go between your hotel room, pool, and beach is a big plus.
Breakfast and Dining at the Hotel
A complimentary breakfast buffet is available for hotel guests each morning. We ate breakfast downstairs during our stay, and it was a pretty traditional hotel breakfast buffet with a selection of breakfast basics.
We liked having the convenience of being able to grab breakfast at the hotel before heading out for the day.
The hotel also has on-site dining at Bar Louie. We ordered dinner from Bar Louie and had it delivered directly to our room. After a day enjoying the pool, beach, and South Padre Island, being able to have dinner brought up to the room was really convenient.
Is Courtyard South Padre Island Good for Families?

We think the Courtyard South Padre Island is a fantastic option for families, particularly if you want to stay directly on the beach.
Our suite worked really well for our family, with two queen beds, a sofa bed, and plenty of room to spread out. The large outdoor pool, shallow kids' splash area, and easy beach access were also great with the kids. Having breakfast available downstairs was convenient, and we liked having the option to order dinner and have it delivered to our room when we didn't feel like heading back out.
What We Liked About Our Stay
The room setup, balcony with ocean views, pool, and beachfront location were some of our favorite parts of the stay.
Our suite gave us plenty of room, and we loved having the large balcony overlooking the water. Being able to easily walk between the hotel, pool, and beach also made it a good place to spend a relaxing day without needing to drive around the island.
We also appreciated some of the smaller conveniences, like having breakfast downstairs, a little shop near the lobby where we could pick up beach accessories or water bottles, and being able to order dinner to our room.
And waking up to the sunrise over the Gulf from our balcony was a pretty great way to start the day!
What to Know Before Booking

If you're traveling with a larger family, also check the occupancy for the individual room you're considering. The hotel also charges for on-site parking. At the time of our visit, parking was listed at $10 per day.
Would We Stay at Courtyard South Padre Island Again?
Yes, we would definitely stay here again.
The suite was a great size for our family, and we really enjoyed the balcony overlooking the Gulf. The beachfront location and pool also made it easy to enjoy South Padre Island without having to leave the hotel every time we wanted something to do.
