Disclosure: This visit was hosted by the Texas State Aquarium, but all opinions are our own.
The Texas State Aquarium in Corpus Christi is one of Texas’s top family attractions — and for good reason! With interactive exhibits, breathtaking marine life, and even a splash park, it’s a place where learning meets adventure. On our latest trip, we set ourselves a challenge: See the entire aquarium in just one day.
Here’s how it went (and what you can expect if you visit).
Our One-Day Aquarium Challenge
We started our day shortly after the doors opened, determined to cover every exhibit. The Texas State Aquarium is divided into incredible zones, each offering something unique.
Highlights You Won’t Want to Miss
1. Caribbean Journey & Gulf of Mexico Exhibits Colorful coral reefs, tropical fish, and even sharks — these exhibits are perfect for getting lost in the beauty of the ocean.
2. Dolphin Bay Underwater Viewing While we didn’t catch the scheduled dolphin show this time, we loved watching them glide and play through the huge underwater viewing windows.
3. Touch Zones From hermit crabs to stingrays and even small sharks, these interactive areas are a big hit with kids (and let’s be honest — adults too!).
4. H-E-B Splash Park – If you’re visiting with kids on a warm day, pack swimsuits! This fun water play area is the perfect spot to cool down and let the little ones burn off some energy. (Tip: Check the aquarium’s website for splash park hours before you go!)
5. Stunning Views of the Bay The outdoor decks offer beautiful views of Corpus Christi Bay — perfect for taking a break and snapping a few photos.
Tips for Visiting
Arrive early to beat the crowds and have the best chance at quiet photo opportunities.
Wear comfortable shoes — there’s plenty to explore.
Check the schedule for animal presentations if you want to see shows like Dolphin Bay.
