On our recent trip, we packed up our gear, drove right onto the sand, and spent the night camping as a family along the Gulf of America. Here’s what the experience was like—and a few tips if you’re planning your own adventure!

At Padre Island National Seashore, you can drive directly onto the beach and set up camp wherever you find the perfect spot. Our kids loved playing in the sand as we set up our tent with ocean views.
