If you’re planning to attend the Houston RV Show at NRG Center, here’s what to expect from a family perspective. We visited the 2026 show, where over 100 RVs were on display, and explored a variety of travel trailers and family-friendly layouts.
Whether you’re shopping for an RV or just curious about the event, here’s everything we noticed during our visit — plus tips to help you plan ahead.
What Is the Houston RV Show?

The Houston RV Show is an annual indoor event featuring a wide selection of recreational vehicles, including travel trailers, fifth wheels, motorhomes, and compact campers. Local dealers bring a variety of models to explore in person, often showcasing new floor plans and seasonal promotions.
For families considering RV travel, this event is a great opportunity to walk through multiple layouts in one place and compare options side by side.
At the 2026 show, more than 100 RVs were on display, giving visitors plenty to explore under one roof.
Where Is the Houston RV Show Held?
The event is hosted at NRG Center, an indoor venue that makes the experience comfortable regardless of weather.
NRG Center offers on-site parking and plenty of space for large events like this one. Since the show is entirely indoors, it’s especially convenient during colder months or unpredictable Texas weather.
If you’ve attended other Houston events at NRG Center, the layout and parking process will feel familiar.
What Types of RVs Are on Display?

One of the biggest benefits of attending the Houston RV Show is the variety.
During our visit, we saw:
Travel trailers
Bunkhouse layouts designed for kids
Fifth wheels
Compact campers
Larger family floor plans with multiple sleeping areas
Walking through different layouts back-to-back really helps you understand space, storage, and functionality in a way that online photos simply can’t.
For families of five like ours, seeing bunk configurations, kitchen layouts, and bathroom setups in person was especially helpful.
🎟️ Tickets, Parking & What to Know Before You Go
During our visit on Thursday, adult tickets were $15, and there was a special Kids Free Day promotion. Pricing and promotions may vary by day, so it’s always a good idea to check the official event website before attending.
Parking at NRG Center was $25 during our visit.
Like many RV shows, there were sales representatives available throughout the event. If you’re actively shopping for an RV, this can be helpful since you can ask detailed questions and compare features. If you’re just browsing, you may want to be prepared for conversations with dealers as you walk through different models.
Is the Houston RV Show Good for Families?

From our experience, yes — especially if you’re considering RV travel with kids.
Here’s what stood out from a family perspective:
✔ Plenty of space to walk around The aisles were wide enough to move comfortably between displays.
✔ Hands-on experience Many RVs were open to walk through, which made it fun and interactive for the kids.
✔ Real-life perspective You can test things like sleeping arrangements, seating space, and overall layout flow.
That said, it’s still a shopping-focused event. If you’re attending with younger kids, you may want to plan for breaks and keep expectations realistic.
We found that 2–3 hours was a comfortable amount of time for a family visit.
Tips Before You Go
If you’re planning to attend the Houston RV Show in the future, here are a few helpful tips:
Wear comfortable shoes — you’ll be walking quite a bit.
Plan at least 2–3 hours to explore.
Bring water or plan a snack break.
Make a list of must-see features before you arrive.
Take photos of floor plans you like for comparison later.
Going in with a plan makes the experience more enjoyable and less overwhelming.
Our Family Highlights

One of the most exciting parts of the show was seeing how different manufacturers design family-friendly layouts. From creative bunk spaces to surprisingly roomy kitchens, it was interesting to compare how each model approached storage and functionality.
Some layouts felt compact and efficient, while others offered larger living areas that would work well for extended trips.
Seeing over 100 RVs in one place really gives you perspective on what’s available — and what might realistically work for your family.
