Dinosaur Valley State Park in Glen Rose, Texas
Fun Day Trip for Dallas - Fort Worth or Waco!

Our day trip to Dinosaur Valley State Park
This was our first time visiting Dinosaur Valley State Park. I had no idea, until just this year, that there was a State Park, in Texas, where you could go and see real dinosaur tracks! Our kids have always been dinosaur fans, so this was a super exciting trip!
Our stops
Park Store - lots of great souvenir options here! There are some cute rocking chairs on the porch of the store to sit and enjoy. Surrounding this building you will see the 2 large dinosaur models, a sand box, the monarch trail, and there is also a pavilion with picnic tables.
Blue Hole Site - this area had an overlook with informational signage, then a rocky climb down to the river. This is a popular swimming area!
Ballroom Track Site - visiting in November, it was too chilly to really enjoy the water, but it was beautifully clear. Kevin took a walk across the shallow water the capture some great images of the dinosaur tracks at this location!
Primitive Campsites - we scouted out the camping areas to see if this was somewhere we would like to camp in the future, when the weather was more desirable. We all gave it our stamp of approval and plan to visit again for a camping trip when it is warmer and we are able to swim in the water!
Main Track Site - visiting this site, there was again, a lot of great informational signage available to learn about the tracks and the dinosaurs that had made them! From the parking lot there were some stairs to travel down to get to the water, then some large rocks to walk across to make your way over to the track site. The track site in this area was roped off and we could clearly view them from standing on the surrounding rocks, so there was no need to enter the water for this one.

Where we ate
While in Glen Rose, we stopped in Historic Downtown for lunch! We visited Snyder's Tavern, behind Inn on the River. This Tavern had a small seating area, but we were sat right away. The property featured beautiful river views and had fun dinosaur themed coloring papers for the kids!
